Your children (age 3-10) are invited to join the Children’s Liturgy of the Word each Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. Mass at our church. We will sing, dance, listen and reflect on the readings at an age-appropriate level. Come have fun and learn about our Lord!
We are so excited to have you as a part of our Preschool community.
Here is a list of items you will need to bring on your first day. Please remember to put your child’s name on everything:
- One extra set of clothing in a zip-lock bag – with name
- If staying for Lunch (to support your child to be successful – ensure they can open it themselves)
- 5 x 7 photo of family for the room
- One box of tissue (i.e. Kleenex)
- If Napping – One fitted sheet – One small blanket for cots – optional a small pillow (in a bag with your child’s name on it). These will go home every Friday.
- One box flushable wet wipes
- Please make a “goodbye’ plan with your child. (Kissing Hand book available)
- Please bring a water bottle for your child.
- Children may not bring toys from home – (exception is a small cuddle toy to sleep)
Join us for a new parent night on August 9th – it’s a great opportunity to connect with your teachers, see the school, and meet some new friends for both you and your children!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 11, 12-2:30 PM for our End of the Year Preschool Picnic!
All family members are invited to join us. Since it is a “bring your own lunch” picnic, there will be no cost to attend. Just bring your beach chairs and blankets and don’t forget to invite grandpa and grandma too! All preschoolers will receive a certificate and entertain you with a few of their very favorite songs. We will have free preschooler photos, a Bouncetime Slide and the famous “Radical Reptiles” which older siblings will love too. We’ll also have family art activities and Pockets the Clown, so the kids will be busy and you’ll have more time to socialize! If you have any ideas for activities or family entertainment for the afternoon, please let us know. So please HELP by making a donation to the PICNIC to help cover the cost of the entertainment. Every donation, big or small helps! You can put your donation in the tuition envelope and mark it “picnic donation”, or just add it to your May tuition. Of course, your business can sponsor too!!! We’ll put a big beautiful Thank You Sign next to the event !
We will also have volunteer sign-up sheets for parents to help set-up and clean up the day of the Picnic. Please Help us make this a fabulous day for everyone. Thanks!
Preschool Priority Registration Closed
Just a reminder that the preschool priority Fall Registration is over and we are now in the process of filling the remaining spots for the Fall from the waiting list. Please let family and friends know that if they are interested in the preschool for their child in the Summer or this Fall to call us immediately!
Our St. Mary, Star of the Sea Parish Community has asked for our help to fill their food pantry with basic staples for our families in need. Please consider picking up any of these items the next time you are shopping for your family and dropping them off in the office:
- fresh fruit (apples, oranges)
- fruit cups
- 1-pound bag of rice
- 1-pound bag of pinto beans
- canned pasta (Chef Boy-r-Dee, etc.)

The preschool is now planning its summer program, so please be thinking about whether or not your preschooler, and possibly a new sibling, will be attending.
The summer program will begin June 26—June 30 (for our full time only mini -camp), and then July 3 through Aug 15 for all of our Summer Campers. We have begun to enroll children from the waiting list for summer openings. If you have registered your child for the summer, please remember that we are counting on you for the weeks you have requested. We have staffed according to all of your responses. If you have friends or neighbors interested in the summer program, please invite them to call. We are going to have a blast this summer!
We will have a “mini camp” for full day kids only from June 26-June 30. If you decide to take the summer off, we will fill those spots with incoming siblings and new preschoolers. You won’t lose your spot for September.

February 6 and 7: September 2017 Registration packets go home to current preschool families only
February 10: September 2017 Registration packets go home to current elementary families in the family envelope
February 15: 7:00AM On a first come first serve basis, the preschool will begin to accept September 2017 registration for current preschoolers only. Registration cannot be accepted without the $75.00 registration fee.
February 21: 7:00AM On a first come first serve basis, the preschool will begin to accept September 2017 registration for brothers and sisters of current preschoolers only . Registration cannot be accepted without the $75.00 registration fee.
February 23: 7:00AM On a first come first serve basis, the preschool will begin to accept September 2017 registration for brothers and sisters of current elementary students. Registration cannot be accepted without the $75.00 registration fee.
February 27: Open registration will begin. The preschool will begin to fill openings from the waiting list.

Bishop Flores Scholars: Making a Difference
In 2016, the Bishop Flores Scholars Fund will provide one million dollars in tuition assistance to children in the Diocese of San Diego. The 2017-2018 school year will mark the third year of the “Bishop Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program,” which provides limited tuition assistance to qualifying families. This assistance is available ONLY for families entering Kindergarten-8th Grade in September 2017; awards will not be given to children enrolling in Preschool in September 2017.
Families may apply for the Bishop Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program beginning January 2, 2017 through February 28, 2017. It’s a short window, so do not wait to apply. If you plan on seeking tuition assistance from St. Mary, Star of the Sea Elementary School for 2017/2018 , you must first apply to the Bishop Flores Tuition Assistance Program before applying to the school for assistance.
